Former U.S. ice dancer comes forward in Nikolaj Sørensen sexual assault case

The ongoing sexual assault case againstCanadian Olympic ice dancer Nikolaj Sørensenhas a shocking update as the survivor of the assault has come public.

USA TODAY Sports

Ininterviews withBroken IceandUSA TODAY sports columnist Christine Brennan, Ashley Foy, a former United States ice dancer and currently a coach in the Netherlands, said that she "[does not] care what professional retaliation I face anymore. I can't bear to face another person talking about this case to me not knowing I'm the victim."

Foy mentioned that she had originally not wanted to come forward due to experiences her friends suffered. She mentions that her childhood friendBridget Namiotkadied after being bullied for coming forward, while another friend Gabi Papadakis lost her job for a similar reason.

What's the status of Nikolaj Sørensen's ice dancing ban

In 2024, amid the investigation into allegations of sexual assault against a then 22-year-old woman, Sorensen was banned from competing in ice dancing for six years. However, that ban was overturned in June 2025, but that decision is still being argued over by the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada with a final decision yet to be announced.

Sorensen's ice dance partner and girlfriendLaurence Fournier Beaudryhas expressed support for her partner, while Sorensen himself has denied all allegations.

In February 2026, following the release of the Netflix documentary "Glitter & Gold: Ice Dancing",USA TODAY reportedthat Foy — still wishing to remain anonymous at the time — was unhappy with the documentary, believing it gave Fournier Beaudry a platform to defend Sorensen and denounce survivors of sexual assault.

Foy said, "The comments by the French team in the press and on a Netflix documentary create a dangerous environment for skaters who need to report abuse. The comments of the reigning Olympic champion and a team in contention for the upcoming Olympic title carry weight, and using their voices to publicly undermine a survivor’s truth further enforces the culture of silence in figure skating."

Did Nikolaj Sørensen compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics?

No. Sorensen remained banned from competing while the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina were going on. Fournier Beaudry was forced to find a different partner in Guillaume Cizeron. The pair won gold, narrowly beating out Americans Madison Chock and Evan Bates.

Lauren Burnham Reveals Why She Doesn’t Like ‘Call Her Daddy’ Host Alex Cooper: ‘Took It Too Far’

Posting viaher TikTok accounton Friday, May 1,The Bacheloralum, 34, said she wanted to “clear the air” and “give you the short and not-so-sweet information” about why she had a strong dislike for Cooper.

Burnham says the beef stems from when the “Call Her Daddy” podcast previously had a recurring segment to make fun of her then-unborn daughter Alessi, 6, whom she shares with husbandArie Luyendyk Jr.(The couple are also parentsto 4-year-old twins Senna and Lux and 7-month-old daughter Livvy.)

“They had this regular segment ongoing and they thought it would be funny to make fun of our unborn baby,” Burnham explained.

Alex Cooper Breaks Her Silence on Alix Earle Feud: ‘I Have Nothing to Hide’

Burnham said she didn’t care if she and her husband were mocked, but her unborn child was crossing a line.

“Make fun of us, don’t care. But they took it too far. They made a regular segment before she was born and after she was born where they were sexualizing our child and talking very inappropriately and disgustingly about her,” Burnham added.

The reality TV alum said the comments reached the point that she and Luyendyk considered taking legal action against Cooper but ultimately chose not to.

“We thought it would blow over. She just kept going on forever. Eventually she stopped and we kind of forgot about it and now that it’s resurfacing again, it still makes me so furious,” Burnham added. “I just hope that all of this controversy that’s hanging around her right now causes her to rethink the level that she is willing to stoop to to get attention, views, whatever it is that she’s looking for because it’s not okay and that’s all I have to say about that.”

Us Weeklyreached out to Cooper’s representative for comment.

Alix Earle Responds to Alex Cooper’s Request to Air Their Drama Publicly: ‘On It!’

Burnham previously spoke about her fury over the comments during an episode of the “Unplanned” podcast in 2023.

“I was really upset because they would mention her and then make inappropriate comments right after. It was so classless,” she said at the time.

Burnham continued, “Arie was like, ‘Don’t do anything about it.’ I was about to hire a lawyer. Honestly, they should be in big trouble for doing that. It’s not OK. I never said anything because he felt like if we addressed it publicly, it would only make it bigger. That’s what they want.”

Earlier this week,Burnham declaredshe was throwing her support behindAlix Earleamid the influencer'sdrama with Cooper.

“Team @alixearle all the way,” Burnham wrote via her Instagram Stories on Thursday, April 30. “It’s about time Alex Cooper gets called out. & yes, it's personal.”

De'Aaron Fox's big fourth quarter helps Spurs close out Blazers

De'Aaron Fox scored 13 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter as the host San Antonio Spurs defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 114-95 on Tuesday to close out a 4-1 victory in the teams' first-round Western Conference playoff series.

Field Level Media

Victor Wembanyama racked up 17 points, 14 rebounds and six blocked shots as the second-seeded Spurs secured a berth in the conference semifinals vs. either third-seeded Denver Nuggets or sixth-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves. It is San Antonio's first trip to the second round of the playoffs since the 2016-17 season.

San Antonio was in cruise control from the opening minutes and led by 28 points in the first half, by 20 at halftime and by 21 points after three quarters.

The Trail Blazers pulled within 97-88 on a three-point play by Jrue Holiday with 5:46 to play but never made a serious run the rest of the way as Fox made big play after big play to help San Antonio close out the victory.

Julian Champagnie added 19 points for the Spurs, with Dylan Harper scoring 17, Stephon Castle hitting for 15 before fouling out with 4:36 remaining and Devin Vassell tallying 10 points. Fox dished out a game-high nine assists.

Deni Avdija's 22 points paced Portland. Jerami Grant added 12, Robert Williams III and Sidy Cissoko scored 11 points each, and Donovan Clingan hit for 10.

Champagnie hit three 3-pointers, and had his toe on the line for a fourth, while scoring 11 points in the first quarter and helping the Spurs to a 36-24 advantage after 12 minutes of action.

San Antonio poured in on the second period, pushing its lead to 54-28 after a Wembanyama 3-pointer at the 6:45 mark. The Trail Blazers reeled off nine straight points capped by a dunk from Clingan to cull the margin to 17, but San Antonio swung back, with a three-point play by Luke Kornet highlighting a 12-2 run that built the lead to 65-37.

The Spurs were up 65-45 at the break even though Wembanyama took just three shots (and made them all) while scoring seven first-half points. Champagnie led the way with 14 points and Fox dished out seven assists in a first half that San Antonio outshot the Trail Blazers 66.7% to 36.5%.

Avdija's 16 points led all scorers before halftime.
